The artworks are created as a pair, a study of how time can transform a familiar place without moving a single thing.

Here, time is represented not by the clock, but by changing the ground (fabric) beneath the two artworks. After Sunrise is hand-embroidered in cross stitch on off-white linen, while Before Sunset is embroidered on black linen. Both use almost the same color palette, yet the colours take on a subtly different character against each fabric base.

After Sunrise captures the quiet clarity of early morning. Against the light linen, the threads feel softer and more luminous, like the first light of dawn.

Before Sunset moves the same landscape into the deeper quiet of evening. Against the black linen, the colours become richer and more subdued, as though the last light of the day is settling into the landscape.
